My Reading Interview With Erik Winger About His 2nd Solo Album You Can Have All You Want
Hi everyone welcome to anther episode of WeWillBlogYou am your host Hannah and joining me today coming back for a 2nd time on the show is my great friend Erik Winger! Erik has his 2nd solo album out called You Can Have All You Want and thats what we are going to talk about today.
Question 1: Erik how are you today?
Erik: Hello Hannah, I’m doing very well, thank you. How are you?
Question 2: Erik could you tell us alittle bit about yourself like a friendly intro for our audience who don’t know you?
Erik: I grew up in Western Pennsylvania, 45 minutes Northeast of Pittsburgh. I was bit by the music bug in elementary school when I joined the school band. When I discovered KISS, it was over for me. I wanted to be Peter Criss when I grew up. This was around 6th grade. In 8th grade, I discovered I had a natural aptitude for singing. Music became my driving passion – rock and roll, school band and choir, musicals, I loved it all. I was a Vocal Performance Major at Carnegie Mellon University, and after graduating, I moved to Florida. I started writing songs, and the rest is history.
Question 3: Erik when did you get into music & who were your music influencers?
Erik: I got into music pretty heavily in Junior High, or what we’d now call middle school. KISS was my main influence, but I also really loved Van Halen, Journey, & Billy Joel.
Question 4: Erik when did you started playing drums & guitar?
Erik: I got my first drum set, a black Pearl International 5-piece kit, in 7th grade for my birthday. My best friend was a guitarist, and watching him play made me really want to learn how to play. I dabbled in guitar throughout High school and college, but didn’t really get serious about it until late in my college career. I wanted to write songs, so I needed to beef up my guitar skills.
Question 5: Erik when did you start becoming a famous solo artist & what made you want to be one?
Erik: Well, I’m not famous, but I am certainly working on getting my music out to more people and building an audience! I started writing songs in college. The first song I wrote that wasn’t crap was a song called “Caught Up In You”, which is on my first album WANDERLUST. I think I wrote that in 1997.
Question 6: Erik can you tell us how long did it take you to make your 2nd solo album You Can Have All You Want & why the name?
Erik: I started writing for the second album as I was finishing up mixing the first album, Wanderlust. All in all, I’d say it took me a little over a year to write, record, and release the new album. I got the album title from a song on the album of the same name. I don’t know, I liked the sound of it. My first album had a lot of ballads and love songs on it, so I purposefully set out to write about different subject material. You Can Have All You Want is a song about self-empowerment – pull yourself up by your bootstraps, you can do it! It;’s that kind of song.
Question 7: What’s your favorite song on your 2nd solo album You Can Have All You Want?
Erik: Ooo, that’s a hard question. They’re all my favorite! lol! But seriously, I’d have to say I really like “Go!”, “GFY” and “It’s Never Too Late.”
Question 8: Were can our audience can get your 2nd solo album You Can Have All You Want?
Erik: Both of my albums are available on all streaming platforms – Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon Music, YouTube, etc….If you’re old school like me and would like a physical CD, I have those available at www.erikwinger.com
Question 9: Erik you & your band are gonna perform live songs from your two solo albums can you tell our audience where you & your band is playing & were can they can they get tickets for your show?
